How Can You Participate In The School Improvement Process?

On Thursday, December 11, the district received notice from Texas Education Agency Commissioner Mike Morath that the TEA would be intervening at Connally ISD because two of our campuses - Connally Elementary and Connally Junior High - have received five consecutive years of unacceptable accountability ratings.
The TEA’s intervention involves three key steps:
The appointment of a conservator to assist and oversee leadership of the district.
The appointment of a Board of Managers to govern the district in place of our elected Board of Trustees.
The appointment of a new superintendent to lead the district.
We are very proud of the progress that each of our schools have made. Preliminary data from this year’s interim testing in particular has demonstrated incredible growth in comparison to last year. While we are disappointed in the TEA’s decision, we understand its importance and are committed to doing all that we can to continue the process of improving our schools.
We have updated the Connally ISD website to include information regarding the TEA’s Intervention at Connally ISD. You can find that information at this link. The webpage lists several documents provided by the TEA as well as an application for local community members that are interested in serving on the district’s Board of Managers. We strongly encourage all qualified community members to apply for this board. The perspective of local community members who live in our district is important in the governing process.
Additional information will be shared with our community as it becomes available.
